These Incised Green Treated Sleepers are treated to Use Class 4, that when used in accordance with the appropriate standards, have a 15-year warranty against decay and insect attack.

Manufactured from quality whitewood, kiln dried and incised prior to the application of the Use Class 4 preservative treatment, makes these sleepers suitable for ground contact applications. These softwood sleepers offer enhanced preservative penetration as well as a broader spectrum of protection against decay organisms, particularly certain copper tolerant brown rots.

Incisions along the entire length of the sleeper create a neat yet distinctive pattern on all four sides. This allows the preservative treatment, applied under pressure, to penetrate deeper into the structure of the timber creating a robust and uniform envelope of protection.

Incising technology was developed and proven with generations of use in North America. James Jones was the first timber processor in the UK to adopt this system.

Where cutting, machining, notching and boring has to be carried out, although the timber has been impregnated with a preservative treatment, the area of timber revealed by the cross cuts, holes or notches must be liberally brushed with a suitable end grain preservative.

Each sleeper is unique. Being a natural product, there may be colour variations, splits, knots and wanes.
