Our Brown Treated Log Lap Sleepers are perfect for applications where smooth edges and ease of construction with minimal fixings is required.
When placed on top of each other, the log lap/jigsaw style joints is what holds them together and keeps them stable with minimal fixings.
These softwood sleepers are passed through a fixed dimension moulder, so will be as accurate as they can be given the natural characteristics of the timber. They are then pressure treated with Tanatone, a Tanalith preservative containing a built-in brown colour. The brown colours of Tanatone treated timber are an alternative to the initial pale green colouration of Tanalith treated timber. Tanatone is an additive to the usual industrially applied Tanalith preservative treatment which offers longevity and increased protection against fungal and insect attack - the treatment is completely safe for children and pets alike.
Where cutting, machining, notching and boring has to be carried out, although the timber has been impregnated with Tanatone, the area of timber revealed by the cross cuts, holes or notches must be liberally brushed with a suitable end grain preservative.
We also supply Brown Treated Capping Sleepers - these are moulded sleepers without a tongue on one edge for a smooth finish.
Each sleeper is unique. Being a natural product, there may be colour variations, splits, knots and wanes.
